Water: Surface Appeal |

We
see many water surfaces in landscape photos. Often the grandeur of the landscape mutes the subtle
intricacy and beauty of the water surface. It is as if the water surface is working
its heart out to please the viewer, only to be upstaged by the geological
structures above. There are many
wonderful photos of reflections in the water surface but here the water
surface acts only as a mirror to allow the viewer appreciate the scene above. Many painters strive to create scenes
of harmony of free flowing shapes interacting with each other. Yet nature leads this contest time and
time again, in the scenes created on the water surface. When I focused on Water Surfaces and
challenged myself to create a collection of distinct views with unique
messages I was amazed at how subtle the views were and how often I had not
recognized their beauty. I now
look at the water’s surface differently and I hope you enjoy the photos
as well as your future observations of the beautiful scenes created by the
Water’s Surface. – Dave Ness |
